To strengthen our team in the division “Glasses” in Berlin-Adlershof, starting as soon as possible, we are looking for aPostdoctoral Researcher in Glass Science (m/f/d)

The BundesanstaltfürMaterialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and analytical sciences.

Your responsibilities include:

High-throughput development of advanced glasses:

Manual and automated melting of oxide glasses

Manual and automated glass sample preparation

Glass characterization: composition, structure, homogeneity, density, moduli, internal friction, crack growth, viscosity, crystallization, sintering, degassing

Ontology based digital process, structure and property data management

Building co-operatios and acquisition of private and public funding

Publishing of scientific results

Your qualifications:

Completed University degree (Diploma/ Masters) in the field of materials science with glass specialization

Ph.D. in materials science with glass specialization

In-depth understanding of oxide glass composition - structure - property relations

A publishing record on glasses, preferably focussed on mechanical properties

Advanced skills for process and property data analysis and management

Excellent language and communication skills in English and German

Good communication and Information behaviour, goal-oriented and structured way of working, initiative/ commitment, ability to work in a Team/ willingness to cooperate, flexibility and conceptual, strategie and innovative thinking skills
