announces a competition for the position of a Post-Doc Researcher

in the group of research workers in Department of Industrial and Environmental Microbiology,

at the Institute of Biological Sciences, at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology UMCS

The competition may be entered by individuals who meet the requirements specified in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2022, item 574) and in the UMCS Statute of May 29, 2019, as amended.

Eligibility criteria

- a doctoral degree in the field of biological sciences obtained not earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project (this period does not include breaks related to maternity leave, leave on the terms of maternity leave, paternity leave, parental leave or parental leave granted in accordance with the provisions of the Labour Code and the period of receiving sickness allowance or rehabilitation benefit due to incapacity for work, including those caused by a disease that requires medical rehabilitation; for women, the indicated 7-year period may be extended by 18 months for each child born or adopted; a woman may choose a more favourable way of indicating breaks in her research career);

- outstanding scientific achievements and experience in acquiring and managing or implementing research projects;

- lack of employment under an employment contract in the entity where the research project will be carried out within the last two years prior to taking up employment in the project;

- documented scientific achievements in the field of microbiology or molecular biology or biochemistry (confirmed by authorship in publications);

- experience in laboratory work;

- knowledge and scientific experience in microbiological methods; an additional advantage will be the ability to conduct isolation and electrophoretic analysis of proteins;

- confirmed active participation in scientific life (participation in national or foreign conferences, courses, received scholarships, grants, patents, awards, distinctions, scientific cooperation);

- good command of English;

- ability to present research results;

- diligence, accuracy, good organization of work;

- high motivation to conduct scientific research, communication skills and the ability to work in a team;

- confirmed active participation in scientific life (participation in national or foreign conferences, courses, received scholarships, grants, patents, awards, distinctions, scientific cooperation);

- good command of English;

- ability to present research results;

- diligence, accuracy, good organization of work;

- high motivation to conduct scientific research, communication skills and the ability to work in a team;

Selection process

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- full-time employment under a research grant under a fixed-term employment contract from October 10, 2022 to July 9, 2023 (with the possibility of the 3-month extending period up to 12 months of total employment period), in the primary workplace;

- during the period of receiving remuneration under the established employment relationship, no other remuneration may be obtained on the basis of an employment contract with any employer (also applies to an employer having its registered office outside the territory of the Republic of Poland);

- during the period of employment at UMCS as part of a research project, no other remuneration may be obtained from the funds allocated as direct costs in competitions of the National Science Centre.

The university does not provide housing.

The settlement of the competition does not result in establishing an employment relationship.

The final decision on employment is made by the Rector.

The University reserves the right to close the competition without a decision.

APPLICATION FOR THE COMPETITION SHOULD INCLUDE:

- an application requesting employment addressed to the Rector of UMCS;

- a copy or a certified copy of the doctoral diploma, or a resolution or another document confirming the award of the doctoral degree;

- a personal questionnaire and curriculum vitae or CV;

- a list of scientific publications;

- a list of scientific and organizational achievements;

a declaration of compliance with the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2022, item 574);

a candidate's declaration that UMCS will be their primary workplace;

a candidate's declaration that they agree to the processing of personal data in accordance with Article 6 Paragraph 1 Letter a) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation);

opinion of the head of the department or research supervisor on the candidate's predispositions and qualifications for research and teaching - taking into account the results of student questionnaires, if the candidate was subject to such evaluation.
