Postdoctoral Fellow -Neurosurgery -Rostomily

　　The Rostomily lab at the Houston Methodist Research Institute and Houston Methodist Department of Neurosurgery has a post-doctoral fellowship position immediately available to pursue development of a microfluidic based pre-clinical screening platform for drug sensitivity testing of patient derived tumor samples. This project is NIH funded and the candidate will also receive support from the PIs Dunn Chair in brain tumor biology. The project is a collaboration with Drs Albert Folch (microfluidics, bioengineering) and Ray Monnat (genome sciences, pathology) at the University of Washington. The candidate will contribute in one or more of the following areas according to interest and expertise:

　　1) characterization and drug response testing of PDX and patient derived slice cultures on microfluidic devices (generated at UW). This project involves profiling of slice culture immunophenotypes including stromal immune elements and adaptation of the model for potential testing of immunotherapies as well as genomically informed targeted therapies and conventional cyto/genotoxic drugs and radiation.

　　2) development of advanced automated real-time readouts for cell responses to treatments compatible with the existing or modified versions of the mircrofluidic device

　　3) generation of alternative 3D tissue engineered platforms from primary tumor tissues for drug testing on the microfluidic device

　　4) validation of predictive power of the platform by in vivo testing and comparison with alternative pre-clinical screening techniques.
