Postdoctoral Researcher in Data Analysis

We are looking for

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be involved in a European project aimed at regional development of Industry 4.0 in collaboration with industry.

You will be tasked to create sustainability in the processes of several regional industries by quantitative chemometric analysis of process analytical data. The position will involve strong collaboration with industry and should lead to methodological innovations in data science for industry. You will supervise student internships in the line of your research, and you may be involved in teaching. You will work in a team of several young researchers at an interdisciplinary academic research department. We ask

•You have a PhD degree in either Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with demonstrable interest in data science, chemometrics and/or artificial intelligence, or a PhD degree in Data Science/Artificial Intelligence or related disciplines with a demonstrable interest in the quantitative analysis of physical/chemical data.

•You have experience with programming in MATLAB/R/Python or similar.

•You have good communication skills in English, both in writing and verbally.

•You have a demonstrable track record of oral presentations and papers published in scientific journals.

We are

The research will be carried out at the Department of Analytical Chemistry & Chemometrics in the Institute for Molecules and Materials (IMM) of Radboud University. The Institute for Molecules and Materials is a research institute in chemistry and physics, which fosters interdisciplinary research. Its mission is to design and create functional molecules and materials to fundamentally understand their behaviour. The IMM comprises 19 research groups active in areas ranging from condensed matter science to organic chemistry and chemical biology. We focus on fundamental research with an open eye for societal applications and educates the next generation of leaders in science and innovation. The IMM distinguishes itself from similar institutes by the intense collaborations and interactions between chemists and physicists and/or experimentalists and theorists and the very strong infrastructure that includes large user facilities such as the High Field Magnet Laboratory (HFML) and the Free Electron Laser facility FELIX.

We offer

•Employment: 32 – 40 hours per week.

•A maximum gross monthly salary of € 4,402 based on a 38-hour working week (salary scale 10).

•The exact salary depends on the candidate’s qualifications and amount of relevant professional experience.

•In addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.

•Duration of the contract: you will be appointed for an initial period of 12 months, after which your contract can be extended up to 21 months.

•The intended start date is 1 October 2020.
