Position Description Performs specialized Post Doctoral work in the planning, conducting and/or supervision of original research at TTUHSC. Responsible for participating in a research project associated with Ph.D studies and the interpretation of the results of publication. Work is performed under supervision of graduate faculty members with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions

Involved in optimizing and test CRISPR-Cas9 gene-editing and delivery, plasmid DNA-gene therapy. Determine genetic modification, signaling regulation, molecular biology, histology and immune assays, and response for experimental and gene-editing based therapeutic evaluation, basic biomedicine tests as requested by advisor. Analyzing histological, pathological, cellular, genetic, molecular changes to evaluate the oncogenetic mechanisms and the immune signaling pathways associated to the CNS diseases.

Shall be Involved in analysis and utilization of both characterized and newly found peripheral and brain immune regulators, pro-and anti- inflammatory cytokines and immunocytes associated to brain tumor, and neuronal injury. Position involves molecular, genetic immunology, neuroimmunology, and cell biology assays. Testing the immunological and biological response of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines to neuropathogenesis.

Shall be responsible for in vitro and in vivo models to test systemic immunoresponses associated to cancer and neuronal injury, gene-based immunotherapy and brain targeting delivery.

Shall be response for CD34 stem cells, bone marrow stem cells, hPBMC, and primary neuronal cell isolation and cultures.

Shall be response for genetic, molecule and cellular analysis of nuclear protein, gene transcription, signaling pathways, cytokines, immunocytes, tumor cells and neuronal cells.

Shall be responsible for testing of gene-editing specificity and efficiency, therapeutic efficacy, and immune responses in vitro and in vivo.

Will need to perform isolation, identification and determination of nuclear, membrane, and cytoplasmic RNA, DNA, and protein.

Other duties as assigned to fulfill the research study.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in area of project specialization, knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof or Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., D.Sc., M.D.).

Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.

Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions, and other outcomes.

Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and the public.

Experience with gene delivery and nanoparticle-based imaging.
