Postdoctoral Research Associate on Structure vs Randomness in Algorithms and Computation

We are looking for a motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to play a key role in the EPSRC New Horizons project on “Structure vs Randomness in Algorithms and Computation”. You will be a senior member of the collaborative project team, reporting directly to Professor Rahul Santhanam, and will be contributing to research in computational complexity theory and the theory of algorithms based around the theme of structure versus randomness. Based within an internationally leading research group, you will benefit from working in Oxford University's acclaimed Computer Science Department, located in the heart of Oxford's  Scientific Keble Triangle.

You will carry out research proving new complexity lower bounds and giving new algorithms for fundamental computational problems such as the problem of generating prime numbers. This may involve a variety of approaches from logic, combinatorics and algorithms, as well as a mastery of cutting-edge techniques such as the algorithmic method.

The primary selection criteria are a PhD or DPhil in theoretical computer science or mathematics, an extensive knowledge of computational complexity theory, and a strong publication record in the field of computational complexity theory.

You will be expected to regularly write research articles for internationally leading peer-reviewed conferences and journals, present the research of the group at conferences and workshops, complete clear task objectives, organise your workload and proactively contribute to the research group's objectives.
