Position Summary
The Web Application Developer we’re recruiting requires a combination of technical and management skills and responsibilities. The successful applicant needs to have solid experience and demonstrable knowledge in both web application programming, and DevOps.
This position is required to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new web applications in support of the achievement of business requirements. This includes writing, coding, testing, and analyzing programs and applications. This role will also research, design, document, and modify application specifications throughout the production life cycle.
The Web Application Developer needs to participate in DevOps roles to Implement various development, testing, automation tools, and IT infrastructure, and also to recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades.
This individual is also expected to provide mentoring, support and guidance to the junior developers in the team.
The main responsibilities include:
Web Application Development (70%)
● Participating in architecture and web application development activities;
● Cooperating with web designers to match visual design intent;
● Developing and maintaining mission-critical information extraction, analysis, and management systems;
● Implementing streaming analysis algorithms to generate question focused data sets;
● Providing direct and responsive support for urgent analytic needs;
● Translating loosely defined functional requirements into technical solutions;
● Using open-source technologies and tools to accomplish specific use cases encountered within the project;
● Using coding languages or scripting methodologies to solve a problem with a custom workflow;
● Integrate data from various back-end services and databases;
● Collaborating with others on the project to brainstorm about the best way to tackle a complex technological infrastructure, security, or development problem;
● Performing incremental testing actions on code, processes, and deployments to identify ways to streamline execution and minimize errors encountered.
DevOps (30%)
● Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure;
● Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes;
● Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing results;
● Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats;
● Working on tasks assigned by direct manager and department head.
Qualifications
Required Education
● BS or above in Computer Science, IT, IS, or equivalent area of technical study.
Required Experience
● Familiarity with container orchestration services, especially Kubernetes;
● Familiarity with agile software development in Go, C/C++, Java, JavaScript;
● Experience administering and deploying development CI/CD tools such as Git, Jira, GitLab, or Jenkins;
● Significant experience with Windows and Linux operating system environments;
● Experience with infrastructure scripting solutions such as PowerShell or Python.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
● Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service;
● Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills;
● Process-oriented with great documentation skills;
● Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service;
● Experience with or knowledge of Agile Software Development methodologies.
