Position Summary
The Manager, Human Resources operates under the Talent, Learning and Development Team, serving as a key member to support the attraction, recruitment, retention, onboarding and offboarding, learning and development needs of the NYU Shanghai community. The Manager will work closely with colleagues within the HR department, with the hiring managers of various departments and units, and other internal operational teams and external vendors to meet the staffing needs across the University efficiently and effectively.
The main responsibilities include:
● Work with the recruitment team to evaluate staff hiring needs, form search strategies, manage candidate evaluation and selection process, facilitate hiring decisions, and ensure sound communication with candidates and internal hiring managers;
● Support the planning and implementing of recruitment activities including online and offline job fairs, social media promotion, and other learning and development events or initiatives;
● Take the lead in liaising with multiple operational departments and teams within HR department to create and refine HR operational solutions to enhance and improve business processes, aiming for providing systematic, prompt and excellent HR services to all staff and faculty;
● Maintain relationship with other supporting departments (IT, Public Safety, Campus and Facilities, etc.) to ensure high satisfactory to HR operational services;
● Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedure to ensure the transparency, efficiency and high quality of HR operational services;
● Provide support to other tasks and HR projects when needed.
Qualifications
Required Education
● Bachelor’s Degree or above in Human Resources Management, Psychology, Organizational Development, Liberal Arts, and other related fields, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.
Required Experience
● A minimum five years of relevant experience in recruitment or HR operations in a professional office environment is required;
● Knowledge and experience in working in a multicultural or university environment is highly preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
● Proficiency in English and Mandarin;
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and independently in a cross-cultural environment;
● Strong influencing, negotiation and consultative skills with an ability to build strong relationships at all levels;
● A high level of professional integrity and sense of confidentiality;
● Ability to think strategically with good analytical skills;
● Proactive, creative, enthusiastic, motivated and able to think out of the box;
● Good project management skills and ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines;
● Attention to details with the ability to respond quickly and effectively to problems or crises;
● Proficiency in using computer and social media (i.e. WeChat, LinkedIn, etc.) and quick at learning new systems and technologies.
